In typical advertising fashion, Teletubbies wanted to "break the internet" with their April Fools' stunt while hitting hard on internet culture and trending conversations.
To bring this to life, we asked ourselves where is one place you would never find the Teletubbies, your favorite 90s nostalgia throwback? That's right, in the world of cryptocurrency. Before April 1st, we teased a Teletubbies crypto to generate some excitement for the launch and keep our followers' guessing. This move took the crypto community by storm and had everyone excited for launch day.
On April Fools' day, we launched the fictitious TubbyCoin along with WildBrain (Teletubbies' parent company's) donation to a kids mental health charity. With the excitement surrounding the coin, we sold the TubbyCoin as an NFT, generating the largest bid on any branded NFT yet and all proceeds of the NFT auction were also
donated to the charity.
In the end, Teletubbies saw a 600% increase in Twitter mentions and a 360% increase in Twitter engagements, garnering more than 34.4 million social media impressions, securing its rightful place in April Fools' day fame.
